THE EVANGELIST WHO STRUGGLED WITH DOUBT
Message by Pastor Kevin Grant
Closing Hymn 114 His Name Is Life
We are celebrating an early New Year’s Eve
with a soup and sandwich lunch immediately following the service this morning. Feel free to hang around for games and
fellowship following the potluck lunch in the fellowship hall.
The church family has received Christmas cards from friends and missionaries scattered around the world. Check out the bulletin board near Wilson Hall.
We have received word that the Operation Christmas Child boxes we packed in November have been sent to Botswana, Ghana, South Africa, and hard-to-reach areas (ones that can’t be named for security reasons). One of our goals for 2024 is to have a personal note in every box. We welcome donations of leftover Christmas cards or the fronts of appropriate Christmas cards that you received this year (we can write a note on the back side). Feel free to bring those in throughout this month.

Fellowship
We have a couple of recurring fellowship activities planned for this year. In odd-numbered months, we will have a ladies crafting activity where ladies can bring a craft project of their own to work on or work on a project for OCC shoeboxes while fellowshipping with other ladies (third grade and up). In even-numbered months, we will have a Friday Fellowship for any adults who would enjoy dinner together and an activity. These will range from potluck and table games to dinner out to bowling (or other activity) nights. Make plans to attend.
As preliminary discussions continue with our prayers for God’s wisdom,
Open Door has been invited by Evangel Church to join them for a fellowship
lunch at their church on January 14th, immediately after we finish our Sunday
morning service at Open Door. This will be a great opportunity for us to meet
their members and tour the campus at 262 N. Perkins Rd. What we learn will provide
helpful context for discussion during our annual church meeting on February 4. Evangel
will provide fried chicken, green beans, and mashed potatoes and has asked that
we provide sides and desserts as well as provide them with a number of people
to expect. Please sign the sheets in the
hallway to help out.
