Missions Moment: Todd
& Erika Carroll, serving in Brazil
Last month, we traveled to
the interior region of Brazil known as the Sertão—a land often characterized by
poverty, dryness, and a people deeply familiar with suffering. It took us 14 hours by car to reach the city
hosting a mission conference, with the goal of mobilizing people from Sertão to
engage in ministry locally, nationally, and internationally.
Brazil is the second largest
sender of missionaries in the world, behind only the United States. We are grateful to be investing in our
seminary, which is actively training and sending missionaries to the unreached
parts of Brazil and around the globe.
During the conference, Erika
and Todd worked tirelessly. Over 800
people attened regularly, and on one of the final days, we witnessed a powerful
response as many individuals surrendered their lives to missions.
We are thankful for safe
travels, with no incidents on the long road there and back—though Erika did
come close to hitting a few goats along the way! Ironically, we’re pretty sure we also ate
quite a bit of goat meat during our time there.
To read more about the
conference and their visit from their home church in West Memphis as well as
see many photos, visit the hallway bulletin board.
