OCC OPERATIVES: What Is Our Mission?

The months of June, July, and August will see some exciting opportunities for our young people on Sunday evenings, 5—6:15PM.  The DoorKeepers (grades 7 to 12) will be studying Is the Bible Reliable?  This is the second course in the TrueU series.  In this course, Dr. Stephen Meyer examines Scripture using archeological and documentary data that supports the factual accuracy of the Bible.  Our elementary school age students will be able to participate in an all-new program OCC Operatives.  In this program they will learn what the Bible says about missions, be encouraged to memorize Scripture, learn about mission fields around the world, develop their prayer lives, and participate in projects to benefit our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.  Young people, you won’t want to miss out.

Can you help provide some snacks or light supper for our young people on the summer Sunday evenings?  There is a sign-up list in the lobby if you would be willing to help out.

We welcome this summer’s LeaderTreks leaders, Vanessa and Ember. The first of six youth groups will arrive this evening.  We are hosting them on the North Parkway campus.  Pray for these young ladies and for the young people to grow in Christlike leadership.

Missions Moment: Our missionaries Steve and Ruth Porter are retired from serving in Nigeria, but their ministry lives on! “Kelvin was in Steve's young group of disciples before we left Nigeria.” During the last two years, “Kelvin had a discipleship group, teaching young Bible School students the materials we had taught. Now that he is at the seminary, he has started another group, teaching and preparing them for their future roles in God's Kingdom. He explained that he wanted to not only teach, but to lead people to Christ. . . . Since he began, 23 Nigerians have accepted Christ. Kelvin not only is working to prepare himself for what God wants him to do, but he is continuing to meet with and encourage the discipleship group that we left behind.”
