Our weekly Bible club for children age 2 through twelfth grade

 

 

We are planning a DoorKeepers activity for Saturday, October 18.  It will be Putt-Putt or Top Golf.  If you have children that age or if you are involved in teaching the teens, please let Bethany Henry know if you/your children will be able to attend and what their preferences would be.

 

During National Collection Week, Memphis Bible Church will serve as a drop-off location  for Operation Christmas Child.  We need volunteers to serve as hosts, greeters, unloaders, and cartonizers throughout the week.  We will be open 2-3 hours per day, November 17—24.  If you are ready to serve, please sign up for a shift or two or more on the clipboard in the lobby.  See Sally Kerr, Linda Toland, or Bethany Henry with questions.  Must be 15 or older.

 

Ladies Bible Study is on fall break this week to resume October 21.

Our next Friday Fellowship takes place on Friday, October 24, at 7PM.  We will meet here at the church for a potluck meal and enjoy some great fellowship—and trivia for all who are interested.

 

MISSIONS MOMENT with Creig and Sherry Marlowe

The ongoing Ukraine tragedy is on our hearts. Despite the war, there is still some good news to share. We learned that the Zaporizhzhia Bible Seminary has record enrollment this year while in the line of fire in eastern Ukraine. Vadym Proshak, who is still pastoring in the same area has sent a video of a baptismal service (14 people) and a Thanksgiving service at a sister church. Both he and his brother Vitaliy studied at Tyndale Seminary near Amsterdam and were Creig’s students when he taught there in the past. You may recall that Creig made frequent trips to Eastern Europe in the past, particularly Ukraine (Kiev Christian University, the Baptist Bible college UBT, and the seminary in Odessa) as a visiting lecturer. Many fond memories are connected to those times and people, now suffering from Russian military aggression. We are finalizing preparations for our trip to the US, where Creig will teach Research Methods again at the Zinzendorf School of Doctoral Studies in Mill Valley, CA (Oct. 13-17), and then visit supporters et al. in Tennessee (Oct. 19 ff.) before heading to Boston for the annual academic meetings (Nov. 17-25).
