MISSIONS MOMENT with
Todd and Erika Carroll
Erika has been diligently
teaching and working with the Advanced Studies in Cross-Cultural Missions
students. She has been investing time and her talents. The course she has been
teaching will allow students to thrive where there are no health care facilities
and gain vital survival skills where there are no doctors available.
Over the past four months we
have spent many Sunday mornings and evenings speaking at various churches. One
of our goals was to raise awareness about the persecuted church within
the local Brazilian churches. We also shared about the Advanced
Studies in Missions Program that is bringing students to a cultural
immersion in North Africa for the first time. Our desire was to mobilize
the Brazilian church to support missions financially and in prayers and to send
missionaries to areas where persecution is a reality.
Most of the students have never stepped foot outside of their
country, or have ever been to a Muslim or African country. The Lord
was very gracious and provided 140,000 Brazilian Reais (around $26,000)
for the team of 13 to be able to travel, visit and encourage the persecuted
church in North Africa.
Many times we thought this would be an impossible task to
complete, but the Lord met our needs at the right time, even though it was the
week before we are leaving.
You can read the much longer full
update with photos on the hallway bulletin board.
